GIMMICKS, GADGETS, AND GOOD BOOKS
Our program for July 18 is a member-presented program of tips and tricks and other good stuff we’ve discovered. We will have a series of very brief presentations to the entire group, followed by the opportunity to learn more about the things that interest you.

On February 22nd, we have an awesome opportunity to make mini-quilts with our speaker from the night before, Phyllis Thornton. Here are some really great things about this workshop:
- Bring only basic supplies – no fabrics to choose and cut ahead of time
- Pattern and fabric will be provided
- You will get to select your own project from about 75 or more possibilities
- Choose the level of difficulty you’re comfortable with
- Get tips for making minis from Phyllis
- Enjoy the day in the company of friends
All this for the low price of only $30 for guild members! Sign up at the January meeting.
Sewing Room Cleanup Sale
Members of the FWQG are ready to de-stash! We all know that quilters and sewers tend to build up impressive stashes, and sometimes they just have to let some of it go. This is your opportunity to pick up one sewer’s “Trash” and turn it into your “Treasure.” All items on sale will be quilting or sewing related. March 21.
February’s program is Phyllis Thornton on making mini quilts. She will also lead a workshop this month. The meeting will be Tuesday, February 21. More details to come!
Do pre-printed fabric panels catch your eye, but you’re just not sure what to do with them? Patti Carey from Patti’s Last Resort will share ideas for making quilts with those beautiful panels. Whether it’s adding simple borders to a cute novelty panel, or using the panel as a focus for a more intricate layout, you’ll get plenty of inspiration.
If you have some quilts you have made from panels, please bring them for show and tell. This month’s meeting is Tuesday, January 17.
At the December meeting we will have our Christmas potluck – please bring a favorite holiday dish to share. Bring an ornament to exchange (handmade or purchased, $10 value), in a bag.
Much fun was had last year – it’s sure to be a blast this year!
Jodi Barrows workshop on Wednesday, October 19. The workshop lasts from 9 until 3; you will be able to begin setting up at 8:30. This workshop focuses on using the Square in a Square technique for a variety of options that begin with a square. Participants will learn how to use Jodi’s system to construct any block, not just one of Jodi’s patterns. You are invited to bring a pattern or two so that you can learn to convert the construction using the SIAS method.
For those who have previously taken the Jodi Barrows Prairie Claw quilt workshop, this is an excellent opportunity to go beyond the basic techniques learned in that workshop. You already have the ruler and the Square in a Square reference book, volume 1, so you will have a minimum of preparation for this workshop.
