The church will be open at 5:30 for set up and we will have a meeting sometime in the midst of all the fun!! Be there or be .....you know! May 2022 program brings Debbie Sommer to share with us her journey from regular quilting to wool applique. Hint: one reason she likes it is that there aren't any points!! April 2022 Program - FWQG member Dorene Joyce (Augustyn) as she shares her program: Joy in the Journey – Get Your Creative Hat On! Dorene has won artistic awards and her quilt "Jumping for Joy'' won 1st place in the Art Quilt Tahoe student challenge. Jumping for Joy is now on tour with Hoffman Media for their Best of North Texas 2021 Exhibit. Dorene will share how quilting has brought her much joy in her journey. In the program she will share quilts from her trunk show and talk about finding her Artistic Voice in quilting. She will share tips and techniques and she will discuss the methods and materials she has used in her art quilts. This talk will center around learning & growing as a quilter no matter what your favorite type and will encourage quilters to let go of their fears and try a little creativity! Dorene's Undersea Creatures Workshop will be available on Sat. April 30th from 9 am to 2 PM. We'll discuss fabrics, adhesives, stitching & painting techniques. This class covers a lot of fun and useful information, all while creating an Underwater Sea Creature. Once you learn the basics your creations will be limitless! The class incorporates applique and other artistic mark making methods. This class is a creative, crafty and expressive style of Art Quilting, where you will learn a variety of easy and fun ways to create your very own Art Quilt! Supply list to be sent upon paid registration. Cost of the workshop is $35. A list of materials that you will need to bring will be supplied with your registration. You will get to try some fun methods for creating your sea Creature. Select from an assortment of animals. (Breaching Humpback Whale, Sea Turtle, Blue Crab, Whale Shark, Manta Ray and others available at the workshop.) March 2022 Program - We will have a live and in person program by the world renowned Texas quilter Barbara McCraw!!! I first met Barbara at the Houston Quilt Show where she had her own display. I was totally captivated by her work, which has such a personal quality. Some of you may have taken her Baltimore Album classes some years ago; the classes were based on her own very personal Baltimore Album Quilt that depicts events and places in her grandparents lives. She is a marvelous presenter and now her husband participates since he has taken up quilting himself. This is a Do Not Miss presentation! It's also one that we would love to have you bring your friends! Because she is a nationally known quilter there will be a $5 fee for guests and I feel quite certain that they will say it was worth it!! February 2022 Program - "Running with the Big Dogs," a hilarious account of Sherri Worley's experience being part of a very competitive quilting bee. Come to our next meeting on the 18th to learn how things could be much worse in your life!! In February, quilter Terry Mosher will present a lecture called the History of Male Quilters, based on his touring exhibition of quilts by men. Terry has a 30 year history of quilting and other forays into fabric manipulation including teaching sashiko, the Japanese method of decorative surface stitching and his perfection of the millefiore method of English Paper Piecing. Terry will teach this at our February workshop on Saturday, February 19. He promises that, depending on your interest, you can make a table topper or a king sized quilt! Sign up for the workshop at our January meeting!!
