FWQG - QUILTS OF VALOR NEWS - 2024
We awarded ten Quilts of Valor at the ceremony during our meeting in November.
We had ten Veterans who attended our November meeting and Quilts of Valor Ceremony to receive their quilts. We had alot of our members there to help celebrate and honor these special Veterans.
The Six Flags Chapter of DAR supplied the refreshments. A big thank you to Karen Weisman and her group for their generous support.

Past News
Fifteen veterans received Quilts of Valor in September. Six of them were wrapped in the ceremony held at Hollis Threads on Sunday September 22nd. Jennifer and Shari Hollis are so generous to open their shop for our QOV ceremonies. We appreciate them so much!
The other awards were smaller but just as meaningful to the recipients and those in attendance.
We assembled fifteen star blocks at the sew day on Oct. 1st at the American Legion. We would like to have a better turnout at the next sew day, so we will be asking for suggestions on preferred days of the week to hold our next one. For anyone wondering, this is a non-smoking facility and easy to get to. We appreciate Laurel Grannan for helping to get it set up.
I will bring a couple of the kits I prepared to the next meeting.
Cecilia Buckholz
Be sure to bring any blocks you’ve completed to the next meeting. There will be more kits for anyone wanting to take some home.
Just a reminder: Recommended size for QOV’s 60”x80” (minimum:55”x65”; maximum: 72”x90”)
Thanks again for all of your hard work!!

Quilts of Valor - News July 2020
Happy 4th of July 2020! Even in these strange times, being able to celebrate our country and the men and women who helped make our freedom possible was amazing and humbling.
Even though we haven't met in person for a while, there is still sewing going on. We have members making blocks and making and finishing tops. To that end, we invite all our Guild members to join in the efforts. The easiest way is to make blocks...any blocks (9-12 1/2 inches) are appreciated.
Until we 'see' each other, best wishes and happy sewing.
